I am a senior at UW-Parkside. I am majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Anthropology. I am minoring in Spanish.
Experience
I worked in a before and after school program in an elementary school. Quite often I was the staff member who worked with children on their homework. I have worked with children in all elementary education subjects. I have also tutored some of the children privately, outside of the work day. I scored a 26 on the ACT test. My highest scores were in English and reading comprehension areas. I would like to be a tutor because I love helping children learn. All too often learning is expected and required but is not a delight for the children. They have questions of "why" that can't always be answered in the classroom setting based on the ratio, and how much attention the teacher can spend on each child. Also, each child has a different pattern of learning. Often children have questions that are answered, but not in a manner that they can understand. I experienced that in middle school. I asked questions,but the teacher explained the material the same way. I still did not understand, but did not know how to communicate my questions to recieve the explaination I needed. I want, in return to be able to communicate answers clearly to children.
